Training Areas

  • In-Flight Inspection Mission Planning

    • Preparation: Develop plans for flight inspection missions.
    • Database Management: Update and maintain the flight inspection database for all air navigation systems.
    • Programme Completion: Successfully complete all required training programs related to air navigation systems’ flight inspection.
  • Execution of Flight Inspection Missions

    • Mission Execution: Conduct flight inspection missions as per plan.
    • Data Collection: Collect data for technical analysis and reporting.
    • System Adjustment: Fine-tune air navigation system parameters to align with ICAO standards.
    • Surveillance: Oversee aeronautical services and associated instrument flight procedures.
    • Coordination: Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to address any malfunctions identified during inspections.
    • Recommendations: Advise the Senior Flight Inspector on certifying or withdrawing facilities’ operational status based on inspection outcomes.

  • Technical Support

    • Client Assistance: Provide advice and recommendations for clients’ technological systems maintenance and development.
    • Special Requests: Address special client requests regarding technological system maintenance and development.
  • Communications and Safety Promotions

    • Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain a positive image of the Flight Inspection Unit (FIU) through ongoing safety awareness initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

Qualification
Experience
National Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Light Current) or related NQF level 6 qualification
3 years – Air Communication and Navigational Systems Engineer or Communication Navigation Surveillance
