Thousands of households are encouraged to apply for a £200 cost-of-living support grant before the end-of-month application deadline. This scheme is designed to assist low-income residents in the East Riding of Yorkshire with expenses such as energy, water, and food bills.
Eligibility Criteria
The council has outlined the following groups as eligible for the grant:
- Families with children of all ages
- Pensioners
- Unpaid carers
- Care leavers
- Disabled individuals
- Larger families
- Single-person households
- Those in financial crisis
Campaign and Funding
The Financial Assistance for Families initiative is a component of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s assistance efforts, supported by a nationwide program. Since its launch in 2021, the council has allocated around £10 million during the Household Support Fund’s initial four phases.

Automatic Payments
Certain households will receive automatic payments without needing to apply. These include:
- Low-Income Working Households and Unpaid Carers:
- Households that applied between April 2023 and March 2024 and received a Household Support Fund payment.
- Households Receiving Council Tax Support:
- Households that meet the eligibility criteria and are currently receiving council tax support.
